Did you know that research suggests that the Corpus Callosum, that section of our brains that joins both the right and left hemispheres, is typically larger in those that receive musical training as children? This means that music can actually increase communication between both sides of the brain enabling you to join logic and insight which improves the mental processes of awareness, perception, reasoning and judgement.
"Music is the medicine of the mind."

White noise, according to the kind contributors over at wikipedia, is a random signal (or process) with a flat power spectral density.
Ok, so lets breaks this down for those of us who speak English. Basically, white noise is the combination of sounds at different frequencies. Just like white light, which is composed of different colors, white noise is composed of different sounds. Hence, the term white noise.
White noise can be use to help mask out other unwanted noises. In the work place white noise is used to help reduce distractions to improve productivity and protect sensitive conversations. At home white noise can be used to help cope with things like tinnitus, noisy neighbors, and barking dogs.
Some more popular examples of white noise are radio static, the sounds of ocean waves, and the sound of a summer night.
White noise is all around us, from the pitter pat sounds of rain drops to the humming sounds of a fan. And if used as a sort of audio therapy it can help us all live healthier more productive lives.
