Dr. Gabrielle Pelicci will make a guest appearance on this week's "Revitalize Your Spirit" show on "Acoustic Fuel Live! - The Message, The Music, The Movement". You can read on to find out more about this dynamic personality here...
Dr. Gabrielle Pelicci, PhD, 33, grew up in a small town in Northeastern PA where she studied art and dance for many years before moving to New York at age 17 for a modeling contract. After a brief stay in the fashion industry, she went on to New York University, Columbia University and several other institutions to study education, psychology and fine art. In 2000, she moved to Washington DC to work as Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Educational Technology at the United States Department of Education. While in DC, Gabrielle discovered a passion for massage therapy and energy healing. She completed 1000 hours of training in holistic therapies while participating in a distance learning doctoral program at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
In 2003, she moved to Miami where she worked as a holistic healer and wellness consultant for many high-profile and celebrity clientele. While in Miami, she found her spiritual path - kundalini yoga - and decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue teacher certification. Before moving to Southern California in 2005, however, Gabrielle took a pilgrimage to sacred sites in Europe, Asia, Africa, Mexico and South America. She loves to travel -- especially backpacking and camping in exotic places.
In the summer of 2006, Gabrielle completed her doctoral dissertation and Kundalini yoga teacher training. She opened SHIFT Center for Dynamic Change, an integrative wellness and yoga center, in Long Beach, CA in February 2007 with a business partner that she met in yoga teacher training. This month Gabrielle is celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Women Healing Women, an ongoing supportive circle that she started for women when she moved to Los Angeles.
Gabrielle has had a rich life with intense experiences. She openly discusses the experiences of violence she went through as a child, the eating disorder she had as a teenager and the death of her mother in her early 20's when she lectures and teaches about authentic ways of living. Gabrielle uses all the experiences that she's had -- both positive and negative -- as fuel for self-transformation and helping to others to heal from trauma and pain. She describes herself as "in the trenches" and "on the front lines" with people and their battle for addiction recovery, stress-management, pain-relief, and injury rehabilitation. Her clients describe her as a "wonderful" and "inspirational" teacher who has a "bright shining spirit" and "shares her heart as well as her intellect."
When she's not working, you will find Gabrielle off on some adventure -- visiting a third-world country, doing 8 hours of yoga a day at a retreat, skydiving, riding a motorcycle, getting a tattoo, driving cross-country or some other seemingly crazy activity. She is a very unpredictable and unique woman who uninhibitedly follows her quest to live life to the fullest and make others feel good in the process.
Gabrielle dreams of a day when everyone is living the lives they were meant to live -- unobstructed by fear, self-limitation or worries about what other people will think. She actively works to help women become more empowered, reconnect with their lives and find their life purpose. Gabrielle is also passionate about helping couples and families have healthy, conscious relationships that support and nurture the whole person.
Gabrielle listens mostly to mantras that come from the Kundalini Yoga tradition. She believes that these mantras set a positive and harmonious vibration in the body and the environment.
